When you come in, the first step will be to go through your health history with Dr Bulcher during a consultation. Once he has an idea of what is going on with your health, he will go through a fundamental explanation of NUCCA and discuss if he thinks NUCCA chiropractic can help you. The next step will be to determine if your posture is showing the presence of the Atlas misalignment. He is looking at your hip position, leg length inequality, head, and shoulder tilt. When the Atlas misalignment is present any or all of these posture changes can occur. Next, Dr. Bulcher will do a functional scan of your nervous system which will reveal areas of good or altered nerve function. The final step for the first visit will be to take specialized x-rays. Dr Bulcher will analyze all this information and present it to you on the second visit.
The second visit will start off by showing you what was found on the x-rays and nervous system scan and explaining how this misalignment is affecting body function and your health. Then you will be adjusted; this is all based off the calculations from your x-rays. Afterwards, your posture will be measured right away in the same manner. Dr. Bulcher expects to see changes in your posture right after the adjustment. After this, 2 more x-rays are taken to ensure the misalignment has reduced. While you are resting, Dr Bulcher is analyzing the x-rays to check how the adjustment affected the Atlas misalignment.
This last check is the most important and is where the NUCCA technique differs the most from most other chiropractic techniques. Despite there not being any audible noise or heavy force perceived with the adjustment, the bones of your head and neck will move. These last x-rays show that and allow Dr Bulcher to make sure the adjustment he uses is working as it should for you. The final step will be for Dr Bulcher to discuss how your body responded to the first adjustment and what to expect as you body begins to make improvements.
Once you have had the first adjustment, follow up care will be determined based on your spinal heath. The goal is to get you to hold this adjustment for long periods of time. The best part of that for you, is that you are staying in alignment but also not needing to be seen as often. Dr Bulcher wants to get you in an optimal place of spinal health and help keep you there so you can get out and keep on enjoying life!
